Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.

Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!

We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!

My mother in law just called.

She's very concerned that this Adam Back fellow who NPR says with 99% certainty is Satoshi, is committing criminal acts by not disclosing his role in the founding of bitcoin.

She has advised me to step away from bitcoin before I get taken down in his criminal enterprise.

Hezbollah chief says Israel implementing ‘Greater Israel’ plan with US help

Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem has delivered a speech in which he warned that Israel aims to achieve its expansionist aims in Lebanon and the region.

Qassem said Netanyahu’s government aimed to implement its “Greater Israel” project, pushing to incorporate the occupied West Bank, Gaza, and parts of neighboring countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt.

The chief of the Lebanese armed group said its fighters were repelling an occupation at a time in which diplomacy has not yielded any outcomes, as Israel continues to strike Lebanon and invade its southern towns with American support.

Mmm, I like the new rich editor, but I'm not sure I like the rich copy & paste

reply

i've had issues with the editor on mobile.
I read early on that there were some known bugs while using android keyboards.

Eg:

@sox any ideas?

This happens on the stock android keyboard as well as while using Anysoft.

reply

We did make some updates to the editor recently and might've regressed the Android fixes.

reply

iirc this has been an issue since the wysiwyg editor was implemented

reply

Editor fights with Android keyboards all the time, it's mainly about phrase composition so stuff like autocorrect, autocomplete and whole-word deletion. I'm pretty sure this is a deletion bug.

Some keyboards like to delete via composition (word by word) and some other keyboards like to delete normally (character by character), some other keyboards, instead, like to do both. Our Editor is capable of picking just one method by suppressing the other in a given time window, but if the deletion event extends over the suppression time window the bug can appear.

I'm sorry for the late reply, I couldn't get online yesterday :(

I created a github issue: https://github.com/stackernews/stacker.news/issues/2913

These kinds of autocomplete bugs tend to occur on faster android phones. We probably just need to prevent autocomplete in more circumstances than we already have.

It was a scorching afternoon. My students and I were on our way to the Science Centre. Possessed by the performing bug, I shyly asked if I could sing for them. Their enthusiastic response made me take the plunge courageously. As my mellifluous voice electrified the air, I savoured their synchronized clapping. We then sang other songs, such as “I Want It That Way”, in unison. I reckon us rocking the bus with our energy will be a chapter in my fond and lasting memories of 6RY.

A stripper near several military bases went viral after admitting that waves of young soldiers are flooding her club, spending everything they have while looking depressed because they’re about to get DEPLOYED.

reply
reply

I think they are depressed because they see deployment as the beginning of the end of their normal lives. So before they ship out, they try to enjoy as much of life as they can, knowing there’s a real chance they might not make it back from the mission.
