@Public_N_M_E has fought the good fight but due to rising costs the stacker can no longer afford the territory rent.

#1470988

I don’t post much on music but I do think that it is important that SN has a place for folks to discuss music and to share songs.

Plus I enjoy seeing Public’s daily post asking stackers to share their music which I have done over the years.

So I ask shall we keep the ~Music territory open?

I will cover the monthly rent until Public is in a better place financially and then turn it back over.

Or

Shall we let it archive since it wasn’t profitable thus in this SN free market it doesn’t deserve to exist?

In my opinion, it's not worth keeping a dedicated territory for this topic. It would be better in a different format—something more interactive with a music player, live radio, podcasts, and comments, similar to how Fountain works as a territory on SN. The blog post format isn't that appealing. I share, have shared, and found great music in the daily posts, but it would work better in the saloon.

I really really wish we could have a sidebar player. Where we could add tracks to it and have them auto-play. Creating a daily playlist whilst browsing SN for tracks submitted by users.

But we don't have that.

The Daily Discussion Thread became the closest thing to that that we could get.

I always felt that it would clog up the Saloon if I were to put it there, but maybe that's a better option.

Yet. Would be a great feature.

Forgot to mention in prev comment: fuck profit. Inspiration is priceless.

I vote yes, even though my boomer music has an audience of one. Also, this is a good time to discuss territory split ownerships, patronage, etc. I would be happy to contribute too. Can non founders pay or share rent directly? Wasn't there talk of allowing two or more co-owners to split obligations also a while back?

reply

+1 to all of this (except for being a boomer; that's Siggy's cross to bear alone).

From what I can tell, you're no spring chicken yourself (really old cliche).

True, but as a Gen Xer, I'm always 22 in my own head anyway.

Some of us Boomers are too . . .

Your boomer music is infinitely better than whatever kids are listening to these days.

I would be happy to contribute too.

Also happy to contribute to a split bill if that's what it takes.

I proposed this right before your post: #1471645

If you don't do it, I'll do it.

Ah man, I was gonna vote "No" but then you have this beautiful "I Hate Music" option... what's a girl to do!!

reply

Yes, SN should have a music territory.

I will pitch in some sats monthly to keep it alive. Probably a few others would to.

reply

I will dedicate more time posting to ~Music if it means the territory stays up. Cheers!

It would have been good to be kept alive, because it’s a nice territory. However, I would understand if it were to be closed due to the inability to maintain it. Personally, I’m not in a position to maintain a territory myself, so I’m grateful to all those who try to keep their territories alive, even though they don’t gain much from them.

I might be interested in taking it on. Wouldn't mind splitting with another stacker (or few).
