I don't know why it had never occurred to me. But I was watching some astronomical telescope vid on tiktok and I saw Venus in a gibbous phase whereas Jupiter was full. I started wondering, "Well what the hell, it seems like Jupiter is full all the time. Maybe I'm lucky to have been born in a period where we can see Jupiter full. Fortunate me!"

But it didn't seem right to me so I googled it and WOW.
Only the inner planets have phases and the superior planets are practically always full (FROM THE POINT OF VIEW FROM THE EARTH).

You can easily calculate the length of a cycle by taking the inversing the difference of the angular speeds.
Period of Earth = 365
Period of Venus = 225

1/225 - 1/365 = angular speed difference
Inversing that is the Venus phase period = 587 days

So, Venus can't be the brightest or earliest/latest visible object in the sky. It's dependent on the phase. Whereas Jupiter is always bright. And that 'morning star' you might see is actually Jupiter.
