As a Zambian I stayed Four months in Kenya, and not once did I touch fiat.
From paying bills and buying everyday goods, I’ve lived entirely on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin isn’t just theory it’s real, practical, and working in Africa.
And with Tando App , it’s been seamless and reliable.
Africa is ahead in practical mobile-money usage. In Kenya, M-Pesa is already the everyday payment rail, so an app like Tando can let a Bitcoin user spend sats anywhere M-Pesa is accepted. The merchant still receives local fiat/mobile money. The user experiences it as “Bitcoin everywhere,” but the merchant side is still settling through M-Pesa.
It’s good that there are solutions to integrate bitcoin payments to whatever CBDC systems there are and will be.
And with regards to “not touching” fiat when traveling, it’s a good idea to carry some US dollar cash or local currency with you for emergencies or if you need to bribe somebody etc. You don’t lose any maxi virtue signaling points.
Very much keen on trying this one day
You should! There are 2 Bitcoin conferences happening in Nairobi, Kenya in June.
