Two hours past curfew, **NomaVille** lay deserted.


The **Civic Order Patrol** had already herded the unregistered sleepers eastward, clearing the streets for the Annual Comfort Count.


Earlier, the Bowl-Wage marchers had been driven from the square.


Meanwhile, street-light cameras glowed red through the cold mist, capturing only emptiness, just as NomaVille prefers.


All this should have been enough to keep any sensible resident indoors.


Yet ***one applicant refused*** to follow sense.

@brave appeared at the manor gate, studying the lock and murmuring a phrase now preserved in the Archive:

> **“A locked gate is merely an opinion until inspected.”**


A Fiatti drone passed overhead.
Brave could only guess whether it had registered their presence.


The Archive has therefore opened ***Branch One***:

**Inspect the Lock**


Preliminary findings:

No scratches.
No broken hinge.
No forced entry.
No official record of closure.


One symbol was found beneath the latch.

Only the uncomfortable possibility that someone is keeping records.

A notice appeared this morning on the outer door of the Sats Cats Club.

It was not authorised by the Committee.

It was not entered into the archive.

And yet, the handwriting appears to match a document last seen many years ago.

The message reads:

**The Cats Have Returned.**

I will investigate.
