That's a fair take. I know several writers in the cRyPtO space.
Some are pragmatist, and some are misguided.
Working in Bitcoin and working for bitcoin aren't mutually exclusive.
Glad you got to score a cool point though.
Thanks for bringing this up.
Yes, I think the funding sources should be broadened to all kinds off institutions who benefit fromand FOSS and for profit ventures.
The problem, as ever, is short-term thinking.
I did see the article from Pavlenex, but didn't read it properly at the time.
That's it. Contribute as much as you can. Meet as many good people as you can.
Opportunities will come, but it won't be as simple as signing a contract for a fiat job.
No one will hail you as a hero for giving up comfort to work in Bitcoin. But you'll know.
For me, life is about purpose, freedom, and suffering (I am a writer, after all).
For anyone who wants actual help moving towards working in bitcoin, check this article:

Tbh, it's not about skills. It is about proof or work and who you know.
Invest time and build your network.
I saw this on LinkedIn this morning. It's my crypto alter ego. Someone who has the right idea and the wrong morals.
I wish I had shitty morals. Instead, I'm poor.
BTW - As you liked Scott's book so much and you are now a fiction convert, I recommend Fifteen Shades of Time. A quick read with some philosophical stories to dive into.
If authors want to self publish, but they need help with editing, covers, typesetting, distribution, marketing, etc, Konsensus can help.
As a hybrid publisher, Konsensus selects relevant projects, charges the author for services, and the author retains 100% of royalties.
Konsensus is a hybrid publisher. This means they offer services to help authors publish their own books (usually starting at around $5k).
However, hybrid publishers are selective, and have skin in the game. Konsensus publishes books in the freedom and sovereignty space. This can be anything from homeschooling to spritiuality, or economics to art.
If we took money from shitcoiners and fired out crypto books, it would ruin our reputation.
Basically, we want authors to have the same mission of freedom and the means to take publishing seriously.
It's not for everyone (i.e. it's cheaper to do everything yourself). It can be good for serious writers who are time poor or for first-time authors wanting to ensure quality and impact.
"For some reason at this point I showed her the lightning wallet app open on my phone."
Eesh. I felt that one.
