This paper establishes a formal mathematical framework for understanding the process of wrinkling as a topological transformation. We introduce the neologism exliberment to describe the transmutation of a surface through wrinkling, crumpling, and secretion with respect to a topological manifold. By analyzing the fundamental equations of wrinkling physics through a combinatorial lens, we develop methods to count the mathematical elements of these equations as metonyms for the physical processes they represent.
