You do realize that you enjoy the comforts of your western lifestyle due to the existence of this war machine, yes? The war machine didn't arise following the petrodollar establishment, nor in the aftermath of WW2 - it's been around since time immemorial. The very land the house you live in was built on was violently seized by European invaders sent as agents by an imperial war machine, from natives who themselves were heavily enmeshed in a warrior culture

Nothing about that means I'm obliged to want it to continue or that the world is better because of it.

As long as islamist and totalitarian regimes exist you have no choice but to continue it if you want to maintain your current lifestyle. There are actors in this world whose stated goal is the eradication of American prosperity. The only effective way to deal with them is through the war machine. It's unfortunate but such is the current state of the world. Libertarian ideals can only be realized in an environment in which participants share basic common values. The ayatollahs don't fall under that category.

The only way they can eradicate American prosperity is to bog us down in costly wars. That was exactly Bin Laden's plan and rationale.

And those lands in the US were battled over by tribes before the Europeans set foot on the land. War isn't new. But empires rise and fall. Not sure you are making the point you think you are making.

Yes, I referred to that:

natives who themselves were heavily enmeshed in a warrior culture

What was the point did you think I was making?
