There will certainly be dissertations about bitcoin but the PhD’s will probably be in existing fields, like economics or computer science.

Well Bitcoin proves physics is wrong according to Jeff Booth, so I think some new field will have to be spun up for Bitcoin

Even if that were true, the new research would still fall within existing fields. Every serious discipline has gone through paradigm shifts.
