It means somehow he couldn't count to 3.
I have 2 theories:
Baseball umpires seem to have bigger egos than referees in other sports
Counting to 3 seems like the most fundamental officiating skill in baseball.
Why, when we can delegate that to AI? Human skills like arrogance, stubbornness, and an undue sense of self-importance seem much more fundamental to the tradition of the game.
Didn't the pitcher or catcher notice that three strikes had been thrown?
No one in the stadium seemed to have noticed. Haha

Can't we just import more Asians until our average becomes acceptable?
