I wondered how Lightning Labs felt about Tempo's MPP thing (#1456361) because it seems like a pretty direct competitor to me.
This is from their announcement post on X:
Embeds directly into library-based agent frameworks. TypeScript and Python bindings. Works with Vercel AI > SDK and LangChain.
📖 Import a library instead of using a CLI
🛡️ Per-request, hourly, daily, and per-domain budget controls
🌐 WASM for browsers, serverless functions, edge environments
I hear a lot of people saying that agents will need to use money and Bitcoin (or stablecoins) is just perfect for banking agents. I believe these things...and yet, I can't help feeling like all these things are solutions chasing a problem that doesn't really exist yet.
It all looks like getting ahead of a predicted wave and marketing to me. Though I haven't been paying much attention to agent economies because it's a lot sloppier and noisier than average; gradually then suddenly fake it till you're make it is cheap and therefore normal. The timing may be spot on or, further, timing is irrelevant now.
