the fact that there was no effective resistance to the Covid tyranny is going to haunt us for a very long time.

I'm not sure about the haunting.

Nearly everyone got taken by surprise, even most of us that already weren't a fan of the state. I'd like to pose that it was early days. I have this gut feeling - grounded in smaller scale observations - that post-2020, there are now millions of people that feel Nic Dorier's famous line, but to their governments: "My trust in you is broken". Unfortunately, I also suspect that the majority of those people is now voting for populist liars, but I guess that is a great way for trust to ultimately be fully broken. After all, the biggest sociopaths fall the hardest (they're just great at recovery too.)

The question I'd ask: what are you going to do next time? To me, the greatest loss was mobility. I lost a good gig due to travel bans, some of my expense went up 10x... the way this was executed could have been ruinous. Maybe I am not being a good proactive human and I should be focusing on how to take freedom of movement, but I guess that would make the same overlords immediately label me a human trafficker. Choices, choices.
