Although Kumamoto is not as renowned as Tokyo and Kyoto, I enjoyed my life there tremendously. I was lucky enough to live near Kengun Jinja. I remember visiting it and soaking in the lively atmosphere on the eve of Japanese New Year. The cold winter air stabbed my senses, but my heart was buzzing with excitement. I immersed myself delightfully in this foreign space while perambulating with a grin on my face. I have since returned to Singapore. However, a part of me will always remain in Kumamoto.
