Last week I spent 4 days in Cairo, Egypt. It was a great experience. Finally got to see the pyramids in Cairo with my own eyes.
Wild experience. Photos really don’t capture the scale. You stand there and it hits you how old these things are. Thousands of years later, still standing. Definitely one of those places that feels unreal in person.
And you ask yourself: how the hell did they built those pyramids?
This other photo:
is from the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. In this stone it's written the Decree of Canopus (the Stele of Tanis). It's a significant trilingual stone dating back to 238 BCE during the reign of Ptolemy III Euergetes.
Much like the famous Rosetta Stone, this stele contains the same text written in three different scripts:
Egyptian Hieroglyphs (the sacred script).
Demotic Script (the popular script of the time).
Ancient Greek (the language of the Ptolemaic administration).
Stackers, it was a great experience for me visiting these famous great ancient works. I highly recommend to all you who have never been there.
Wow! Really beautiful, I hope to make it there one day.
