When you are a PSLE teacher, every day brings about new revelations.
Yesterday, I gathered insights about how intrigues might fit in the spectrum between interested and enthralled. Cognitively, it was very hard for me to accept that intrigued refers to a lower level of absorption than captivated. After all, I learnt intrigued in my late teens while I had acquired captivated in primary school. I have to reconcile myself with the fact that just because I learnt a word later in life doesn’t mean that it carries a greater degree of intensity.
