Howdy stackers,
First off, my sincere apologies for being literally absent for so long from active discussions. I'd discuss the reasons in another blog post while this is going to strictly about my overbrimming joy of recieving the SN Cowboy Hat, directly from SN headquarters, Austin Texas.
Although I recieved the hat about a month ago, I could only make to see it just yesterday because I was not at home for an extended time.
But, now I'm back and so glad to see and actually feel how all the package of the parcel looks like.
@siggy47, @blockchainB, @grayruby and @undisciplined, I know you guys recieved it too but the joy for me (or also many others here) is on an another level as it's something even my post office boy got to see kinda once in a life.
Where I live is a small town or call it a village with 100k people - that's how populated India and especially my state which is the largest in India.
I had informed the post office in advance that I’d be receiving a parcel from the U.S., and to my surprise, they remembered. When it arrived, they actually called my brother to collect it—and apparently, there was a mini “competition” among the staff to try on the hat and take selfies. That alone tells you how rare and fascinating it was for them.
Then when the parcel reached my house, for the matter of fact my brother came it wearing on his head on his classic motorbike. In reality the hat actually suits him much more as he's taller and sturdier than I am. But then again at my home almost everyone had tried it and appreciated it so much. Also the fact that the parcel package mentioned $89 which is roughly 7500 indian rupees became a talking point till today. Another fact: our family is huge - 75 people to be precise.
The reason for all such celebrations, appreciations, bamboozlements are simply due to the fact that a Cowboy Hat is a very new thing for almost everyone here and add it the size of SN Cowboy hat clearly distinguish it from any type of hats or turbans known to and worn by Indians.
On a personal level, this means a lot more than just receiving a gift. I don’t have many achievements in life that match the feeling of being recognized and appreciated by a global community like this. Everything in that package—the hat, the case, the framed picture, the card—is something I’ll preserve for life. I plan to display it all proudly on the wall of my future study/studio.
Here are the pics of what I recieved in the box;
Although it's a gift and we Indians worth gifts in millions/Billions with love, I would just like to mention that the quality of everything is just top notch. The hat case, the hat itself, the picture with frame and the card itself all are so so amazing - just premium.
I’ve been a bit busy lately, and my streak broke during my brother’s wedding, but I’ll try to get back on track. Maybe next time, @k00b and team might send a cowboy horse… or a cowboy gun. 😉
Jokes apart—thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to @k00b and @Scoresby for sending this all the way here. And thank you for bringing not just joy to me, but to so many people around me who got to experience it too.
Another Streak loading......
Congrats! I plan on wearing mine during the summer!
Thanks Blok!
It's already Summer here and it's kinda Summer in my coordinates actually most of the time.
I thought only plan to wear it when I travel for leisure in the Himalayas or on to the beaches if I may anytime.
For everyone's surprise - may be - I've never ever been to a sea beach in my life so far.
Whoa, there are actual cowboy hats?! Amazing
Keep your virtual hat for another 286 days and it's supposed to turn into a real one.
my longest streak is 400+?
In that case, there's a hat with your nym on it somewhere
yee haw
Yes! There is a hat with your number. What's the best way to coordinate getting it to you?
I’ll get back to you on that. this is a problem I’ve encountered many times and have yet to find a good solution.
I assume they’re all physically located in Austin, TX?
Yes, although they do require a little lead time, so let mW know before you show up.
shit, now im gonna set a timer so i dont lose the hat for a year.
I'm glad it arrived safely! I was kinda worried it had gotten lost. Hope it fits you well!
Thank you so much for coordinating on it so well.
As the address was correct, things from foreign lands have always arrived safely to the location previously as well.
I was a little worried for the customs because it's a little hard here. They checked it for many times and don't know if that resulted in tearing the 'inside white covering' slightly.
Yes it fits me.
Thank you once again.
Well done!
Don't leave home without it!
Thanks. I shall be definitely wearing it in my next visit to the Himalayas. They aren't far and my trip is already planned.
Hoping in the next few years to visit India and maybe, if time, the Himalayas.
It is not difficult to reach them?
If you can post about your next visit to the Himalayas it would be interesting.
Here in New Zealand we have the Himalayan Thar and Chamios goats running wild on our hills but we have nothing like the history and cultural depth of India.
From the mountains the water flows down with minerals and build the soils and plains we humans mostly farm and occupy.
In the mountains there is a feeling of origins and ancient relentless forces of nature.
You're most welcome! Whenever you feel like coming here, just message me, please be my guest.
It's not difficult for everywhere but the Himalayas - the ranges - are about 3000 km×500 km, I mean they are so wide and tall we can't go everywhere but places till the height of 6000 metres are easily accessible. But for that you need time. So I advise you come here for a month or so if you really want to enjoy the humongous beauty of the sweet mother nature.
Oh, I love Newzealand. It's my most favourite country. I too wanna visit it. Probably in a year or two...
Much like India, I believe NZ is also a land of farmers. I too belong to famers' family.
That's awesome! I'm still waiting on my hat.
Really!
I thought you guys should recieve it much earlier 'cause domestic shipping is much easier.
In my case the hat actually travelled back and forth in the customs for about a dozen times. They even tampered the hat cover from inside, though very carefully, to check. If it weren't for custom I could've recieved it 5-6 days earlier.
I'm intending to go get mine from SN HQ at some point
I see you're lazy besides being a procastinator, haha.
@grayruby, don't you agree?
It’s not that I’m lazy. It’s that I just don’t care.
Haha, I actually can assume it. The Cowboy hats are common thing in there, but for me and all people who look at it they get surprised and wanna try it.
Haha hard agree
Thank you for the support.
TIL @Scoresby's handwriting in cursive is so neat and proper. That's really impressive.
Yes, really impressive. I'm so glad to recieve from someone who is a literature guy - kinda modern Shakespeare.
Wow cool story!!
You are going to look pretty cool walking around town with your cowboy hat!
Nice to see you back on SN.
Is that so??
My brother looks much better than I in it.
Wow! Congrats! That is really slick.
Howdy

I can smell you already 💩
