This podcast has a really great background on the current regulatory climate for Bitcoin developers.

From the origins of the Bank Secrecy Act and its Patriot Act mutation to the Blanche memo. Very good explanation of money transmitter laws and regulations, explained for lay people.

Hey so I watched this entire thing. What exactly was so great about this?

reply

I am ignorant and had not heard someone do a nice concise job of the history of money transmitter regulation and current state of the various cases. For ~1hr of time (listening at 2x speed) I thought it did a nice job of getting me up to speed.

reply

Ah I understand that. The most important thing they say is: some policy memo of the current regime is no legal certainty. Ergo: don't trust them.

reply

Yes. In my ignorance, I thought the Blanche memo carried more weight than it did, and I appreciated their explanation of it.

reply

It has an expiry date and it can be ignored at will.

This is a must watch for anyone building in this space. The line between writing code and transmitting money is being blurred by regulators right now, and the Blanche memo analysis really clarifies where that battleground is.

1 sat = 1 sat, but only if the developers are free to code.

i liked the highway analogy in the very beginning.

I had to stop part of the way through because I was getting so frustrated by the DOJ's behavior here.

But nobody talk about the elephant in the room.
If bitcoin is recognized as money by govs/laws/whatever then:

  • they (govs) have to prove they hsve aby jurisdiction over those money that are the creators or owners.
  • the "capiral gains" are totally illegal then

In other words, any gov will never recognuze bitcoin as money, because the whole house of cards wull fall. Instead will goes on and on with bullshit legalese language that people do not understand.

I repeat: money transmission accusation is a lie, it apply only to fiat. If you are scared of this bullshit you deserve to be a slave.

And all this start by learning the difference between currency and money. Govs want you to believe that are the same...

I wonder when people will start to understand the meaning of my memes
