This is new to me but Wikipedia describes 3D Gaussian Splatting:

Technique used for representing and rendering photorealistic 3d scenes from a sparse set of 2D images. It enables the creation of high-quality real-time novel-view scenes by combining multiple photos or videos.

Basically, those 3D scenes at the link, that you can walk around in and change your viewing angle, are generated from things like iPhone photos and videos.

This appears related to what Google Street View and those realtor walkthroughs do. Only it looks accessible to retail now.
