This proposal isn't much different than the one we saw from Iran just a week ago, with one exception. They have dropped the idea that the US must leave all Middle Eastern bases and moved to just the bases by Iran. Now, of course, this comes down to the wording of what exactly is "near" Iran, but the language itself is a significant change.

One of the funniest things to by far is the reperations part. If you go back and look at all of the death and destruction that that regime has caused, not just the US, but countries like Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, etc. Iran is much, much deeper in the red. Sure, it might be a PR win, but the underlying issues would see them get absolutely taken to the cleaners. This doesn't even include the civilian deaths they have caused by their supported proxies.

It's a single step, but a step nonetheless in the right direction.

Smart adjustment dropping the all bases exit

Yep. It gives the U.S. a solid off-ramp to pull out of Iraq for sure. Also, it allows the U.S. to combine current bases to either close down or downsize others across the area.

The impending US exit from the middle east will make the US departure from Afghanistan look relatively dignified...
