Ngl I am impressed by this move. It isn't often that we see the uber-wealthy/influential put their money where their mouth is, but this is exactly that. I could see Prince William being able to raise even more just because the demand of owning a share of something as historic and tied to the history of well kinda everywhere allows him to charge a stupid high premium.
William announced he’s planning to sell 20 percent of the Duchy of Cornwall, an estate established by King Edward III in 1337 as a source of income for the heir to the throne.
The Prince of Wales would raise roughly $670 million from the sale, which will fund housing, environmental and renewable energy projects, according to The Times.
The Duchy of Cornwall is reportedly worth $1.3 billion. William earns around $31 million a year from the estate to cover private expenses for himself and his family.
I don't really trust the people receiving that money to allocate it towards smart uses. So I don't think I'd have done the same, if I were Prince William.
