Still I don’t understand the outrage of fighting animals when people hunt them or fish them for sport!

People explain it away because the animals are eaten (not all the time, pests like rats and coyotes get no mercy)

Making them fight to the death now that’s a bridge to far!!!

I don’t understand the morality of it.

If we raised rats and made them fight to the death would anyone care?

Hurting is for either eating or getting rid of pests. Fishing, I will be the first to say I hate catch and release because it seems stupid if I am fishing, I am fishing to keep and eat.

Those pets carry disease and damage food, crops, heck, even buildings.

We raise rats to test medical and other things, and there is a reason behind it: knowledge and insights to gain.

Yeah but look at all the exceptions you make to justify harm to the animals.

That is my problem with this stance either you care about animals or you don’t.

This is why I respect vegans they go to the extreme not to harm any animals.

Others just LARP like they care but will go to the local butcher and eat a bloody steak with no guilt but then complain about two cocks killing each in a cage match.

I think I get it. It's definitely an aesthetic reaction to people using animals for entertainment vs. for food. Kinda like how some people might react more emotionally to a burglar who kills parents in front of their children in an effort to escape, than to industrial mass genocide that they can't see and only can read about in the newspapers.

Humans and animals are different.
