Most people thinking about financial sovereignty have Bitcoin. Some have land. Almost nobody is thinking about their vehicle.

The kill switch mandate is real. It passed tucked inside the 2021 infrastructure bill. By 2026 every new vehicle sold in the US is required to have a passive drunk driving detection system with the ability to “prevent or limit motor vehicle operation.” That’s the language. Prevention. Limitation. Remote.

If you think that capability stays narrowly scoped to DUI enforcement you haven’t been paying attention to how these things go.

Pre 2010 vehicles exist outside this ecosystem entirely. No cellular module phoning home. No OBD II interface with remote access exposure. No manufacturer app. No over the air updates pushing new features you didn’t ask for. Just mechanical systems you can understand, repair, and own without a terms of service agreement.

The parallel to Bitcoin is exact. Not your keys, not your coins. Not your mechanical system, not your car.

I’m not saying panic. I’m saying the window on easily sourced, affordable pre-2010 vehicles with low miles is closing. People are starting to figure this out and prices will reflect it.

What are you driving and have you thought about this at all?
