After saying they would not release the report, CNN managed to get its hands on it, forcing the DNC to release it. The report itself is interesting for what it addresses, but more importantly, for what it leaves out.
The report hits at Democrats needing to do like spending more of their money earlier in elections as opposed to waiting till the end to flood the airwaves, that the party needs to shift away from identity politics and focus on the middle class, how Harris and her campaign took too much for granted and wasted resources on things that were not worth it.
While it omits anything about Biden’s decision to run again, the impact of the war in Gaza (which split Democrats) and the fact that Harris was allowed to take over the ticket without anything amounting to an electoral process for choosing a replacement. It did not weigh in on Harris's failure to do the Joe Rogan podcast, which analysts have now called a major mistake.
One particular thing that stuck out to me was how the report hit at how, since President Obama's big win in 2008, the party has “vacillated between stagnation and retrogression” and overall has lost ground since President Obama's success. Further stating "these losses are the direct result of missed opportunities to invest in our states, counties, and local parties and candidates,” and Democratic "candidates have proven incapable of projecting strength, unity, and leadership, and voters have drifted away.”
Pretty interesting overall, though there clearly are some major flaws with the data used that just are not correct and/or contradict themselves.
Not going on Rogan was easily the smartest thing Kamala did
I tend to agree because it wasn't like she was going to address any of the PR issues she had. If she was going to address and either flip-flop on them or reframe things like her border tsar stuff or her whole identity politic issue, that would have been one thing, but since she wouldn't have, Rogan would have torn her to shreds.
And therein lies the whole problem.
They are a party that gives off the vibe of self censorship and toeing the line. Not a party of free ideas and debate.
Yeah the whole 2024 Presidential race was terrible across the board. I mean, so many mistakes that I wasn't surprised it didn't cover everything. I was surprised at it not addressing how Harris just took over the ticket.
