pull down to refresh

Welp, it has been a few days since the Buffalo Sabres lost in overtime to the Montreal Canadiens 3-2. I was nervous the whole day, so nervous that I had to place this hex betto save my feelings if the Sabres did lose.

Most of you stackers were around last season when Buffalo went on a 17-game losing streak and was out of playoff consideration by December. It appeared this season was going to be the same way then. Buffalo fired Kevyn Adams and BOOM the team changed on a dime after he beating the Oilers in overtime on the road in December, dragging themselves out of last place in the Eastern Conference.

The wave of winning was fantastic!! Watching every game and seeing my team dominate brought great joy.

Towards the end of the season, I started to lose a little bit of interest because I was ready for the playoffs. I wanted to see playoff hockey again and find out how far this team can make it.

The playoffs didn't disappoint. They beat a meh Boston team with an above-average goalie and they lost to a young Montreal team who happened to get really good saves from their young goaltender.

When I think about the series, this is what I was afraid of. Buffalo goaltenders are average at best, and UPL (who gave up center ice dump into Boston in Game 2) is just so inconsistent. Even the game-winning goal, I thought UPL should have had that.

Another major disappointment was Alex Tuch. Zero points in 7 games, and they are thinking about paying him $10M per season!! I like Alex, but sheesh, we really needed more out of him during this series, and to put up a bagel really makes me wonder if he has what it takes to help Buffalo win a Cup?

Going forward, the team is flushed with talent. The D men are locked up for at least one more season, and Ruff and Jarmo got a lot of tough decisions to make on who to keep. The future looks bright, but the randomness of hockey can bite Buffalo again next season.

Going forward, I am rooting for Montreal. I hate the Canes, and I don't care for Vegas or the Avs. But overall, I want to say thank you to the Buffalo Sabres players, staff, and ownership for making this drought-ending season special and ending with a Division title!! We get to raise a banner next year for us to remember for an eternity!

It was a magical season for the Sabres...and your Knicks will probably be back in the Finals soon!

I think this is the right way to do it, Celtics are so lame for only raising for 🏆 you need to celebrate all the wins

I blame the media for making sports all about championships. Like fools look down on Dan Marino because he never won a championship but he’s one of the best ever!!

I can’t wait to see all the crap McDavid will get if he never wins a cup
