Don't really care what you think of F2Pool, this is badass.
- Chun Wang, a Chinese-born Maltese-Kittitian crypto investor and co-founder of F2Pool, has been named mission commander for SpaceX’s first commercial human spaceflight interplanetary mission to Mars.
- The two-year mission, targeted for launch in 2026, will include a circumlunar flyby, a high-altitude Mars flyby and a complex return trajectory, testing SpaceX’s new Starship V3 architecture and deep-space operations.
Apparently, Chun Wang will take a two-year leave of absence from F2Pool.
The ambitious, multi-phase timeline will take Wang on a a week-long circumlunar fly-by within approximately 125 miles of the moon’s surface alongside Dennis and Akiko Tito before launching on the historic Martian trajectory.
Target launch windows are currently driving technical preparations for a planned 2026 departure. Once launched, the crew will spend two consecutive years in space. The deep-space itinerary includes a full external exploration of the Earth-Moon system, a high-altitude fly-by of Mars, and a complex return trajectory back to Earth.
If they actually launch this mission this year, I will be very impressed. I'm not like a space junky or anything, but it's hard to deny how cool it is. 2 years in space, flying around Mars and coming back -- it seems like humans ought to be able to pull it off, but who's gonna do it?
Apparently, Bitcoiners are!
I don't think any human is mentally prepared for 2 years in space.
People have hodl longer.
Chun Wang, frustrated by the mediocre BTC exchange rate action, got inspired by the Interstellar movie, booked a flight to Mars, and thought: "Good, I can hold there."
We don't know how to send humans into space for that long, much less alone much less someone who's not already an astronaut
How much is it costing him?
If they aren't ready on time and can't launch this year, when is the next favorable window?
Assuming 2026 is viable because the planets line up well for that kind of trip
It will not happen its more spacex nonsense
To pump up the stonk!
Huh, I haven't heard of Chun Wang. Apparently he was commander in SpaceX Fram2. I guess I wasn't paying attention to that mission.
Anyway, I'm rooting for them! 2026 departure would be a miracle, but I'd love to see it happen. SpaceX has great production value in their livestreams, so I'm excited!

It's going to be very interesting to see what toll that trip takes on the human body
Temu Tony Stark
Good luck to the lil bro, literally like something out of a movie
I wonder if it'll be like Passengers, where they live in little bio pods with robot helpers
If they got that barman serving drinks, gonna be a sick ride
The hashrate concentration angle is the more interesting story here honestly. 11% is already a meaningful chunk of the network from one entity. Whether he's on Mars or not doesn't change that dynamic.
