We just published a guide on connecting OpenClaw to any bitcoin lightning wallet:

https://getalby.com/blog/bitcoin-payments-in-openclaw-the-fast-and-secure-way

The idea is simple: as AI agents move from chatting to actually doing things, they eventually hit the payment wall.

If an agent needs to call a paid API, buy data, settle a invoice, or purchase cloud credits, it needs a way to pay programmatically. Ideally with user-defined permissions and budgets.

With the Alby Payments Skill an agent can:

  • check wallet balances
  • send lightning payments
  • pay invoices after confirmation
  • use pay-per-call services without subscriptions. Find them on https://402index.io/.
  • operate with a limited wallet connection instead of full custody

For OpenClaw, the setup is basically:

  1. Create an NWC connection from Alby Hub or another NWC-enabled wallet
  2. Give OpenClaw the Alby Payments Skill instructions (Get the ready-to-use prompt from the article.)
  3. Let the agent pay lightning invoices with your approval

I'm curious what people here are actually using today:

  • Which AI agent are you using most right now? Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Goose, Cursor, something else?
  • What bitcoin/lightning integrations or instructions should we create next?
  • What would you actually trust an agent to pay for?

50/50 between Claude Code and OpenCode. But I'd totally dig me some daemonized llama.cpp integration too. It shouldn't matter.

Since Cloudflare has fired all their accounting personnel, this is a signal and from now on I no longer want to deal with accountants either.

So, make it do the most hated chore for every entrepreneur in the world: accounting / admin. BUT ONLY WITH BITCOIN. No fiat, no shitcoins. Just LN and maybe add L1.

Not with some hosted third party spyware program but make it so that even something dumb like Gemma can do it. Then, @jasonb can tell his prospects that bro this is better than your QuickBooks, and you're going to no longer use fiat ever. "Pay me in Bitcoin or gtfo"

  • What would you actually trust an agent to pay for?

Nothing. Agents shouldn't spend my money, they should help me earn more money. Lots more.
