I never knew this career existed. The ethical question of pulling the plug on someone’s life.
One of the cases was with a man who got shot in the head looking out of a sunroof of a car by a stray bullet. Brain was intact but was paralyzed. Family and friends wanted him to stay alive he wanted to die.
The clinical ethicist tried to change his mind with support groups and showing him patients that recovered after years. Since it was only a week since it happened she wanted to make sure he was making the best decision with his new situation.
He still decided to pull the plug and everyone had to live with it. They moved him to hospice and he died.
Nice podcast to think about the morality of life when circumstances make decisions very difficult.
I thought The Good Place had an interesting treatment of this too
This?
Yep. You haven’t seen it?
Nah I haven’t. But I’m curious how they approached this.
It doesn't come up until the end, but the show is full of interesting dilemmas and is quite funny.
