Check out my previous hikes here. #1291844

This week we head to Ruckle Provincial Park on Salt Spring Island. We visited this park ten years ago, way back in 2016 during our trip to Salt Spring Island, so I'm assuming the current scenery probably have changed a lot. There is an active farm operating inside the provincial park, and we parked our car on the parking lot past the farm, next to the main entrance road. It was a short walk from the parking lot to the first viewpoint where we saw the shoreline and some people fishing in the distance.

We parked at the parking lot just past the active farm.

It was a short walk from the parking lot to the first viewpoint next the the shoreline.

There were people fishing far in the distance.

Bench for you to slowly observe the beautiful view.

Lone tree by the shore.

After admiring the view, we continued back on the trail towards Beaver Point. The viewpoint gives an open and clear view of the Swanson Channel. Because there are a couple ferry routes right in front of Beaver Point, we saw multiple ferries passing by. We also saw camps by the shoreline, as the park has campsites next to the shoreline. I remember telling my wife that it's really nice waking up to such a nice view, but the night winds will probably be too much for me to want to camp there.

We continued our way on the trail towards Beaver Point.

Still on the way to Beaver Point. The water is coming into view far in the distance.

Beaver Point overlooks two ferry routes, so it is common to see ferries passing by on this spot.

Rocky shoreline without any beach.

This might be the same ferry as the one in the previous photo, or a different one. I don't remember.

Heading towards the bench. This was ten years ago, my older kids were so little back then, and little one wasn't even born.

There were camps right by the shoreline as there were campsites at the park for camping.

I imagine the night winds will be quite cold sleeping on this spot, but I've never camp here, so I can't say for sure.

Dead logs on the rocky shore.

Eventhough the waters were relatively calm, there were waves because this is a sea channel connected to the Pacific.

The green and white building seem to be a small lighthouse to warn ships about the rocky shores. There were also people chilling in the sun.

A lot of life in these waters.

Beautiful water views.

It's a nice place to visit. Not busy too, because not many people go to Salt Spring Island.

That driftwood!!!

See any beavers?

reply

The water in this place is salt water, as it is a sea channel, and beavers do not live in or around salt water; so no, we didn't see any beavers. This is the second time you asked me about beavers. Are you very interested in beavers?
