That jwt notice shouldn't fail start, it'll just use ephemeral, so likely red herring and something else is preventing start 

Can you send me some of the start logging?

 I tried to update my lightning.pub and I ran into an error the service keeps failing to restart it shows rimraf build the it shows JWT_Secret not set in in env, checking .jwt_secret file
