That was done to plant the flag for what was agreed to. Notice how Iran can out later and said that it was Iran and Oman who were in charge. Iran is already starting to try and write a different narrative to make themselves look better. Literally everyone involved knew they never had a nuke. Given what Israel is continuing to do in Lebanon, I'm not overly sanguine about this deal, but it would be great to not have anymore people die pointlessly.
Yet it is parroted as the main reason for the US being involved, to stop them from ever having one.
Hard to say how it shakes out. Trump is disavowing Isreal in public more and more and I don't pretend to know who hodls the cards.
