- Benesse House Museum, a museum-cum-hotel designed by Pritzker Prize winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando. It consists of a main building (an art museum, a hotel) as well as an annex to the hotel
- Chichu Art Museum is an art piece in itself. Three floor underground museum. Ando had built it embedded in a hill. Gaze upon Claude Monet’s Water Lilies paintings in a whitewashed room with a floor studded with marble pebbles. Become a part of the art in James Turrell’s works, which use light as a medium
- A unique architectural masterpiece at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu is the Chapel on the Water. Designed by famous architect Tadao Ando, the chapel faces a cross in the middle of a pool in the woods. At night, it is illuminated by lights on the water and in the trees.
- I also visited Children Book Forest in Kumamoto. It was not very big, tbh but I was impressed by how Tadao Ando worked his magic and made the building seem spacious. I loved that every book had its own space so that visitors could examine the ones that caught their fancy. Great use of concentric circles and vertical lattices and it evokes a calming vibe that made me lose track of time
Fantástico
Glad you enjoyed!
The children's book forest look awesome. did u need to book tickets way in advance to get or could you just walk up.
Made a booking but it isn’t like it’s a tourist attraction, so I think you can just show up and make a booking
