Has nothing to do with the US. The ones in Prague and Amsterdam from this org are pretty similar. It's just the formula of the org behind these. To my memory, Mr. Bailey described it on SNL as hyperbitcoinization at any cost.
There are, just like everywhere else, also small, more grassroots conferences in the US. These just don't get as much press.
The first and only Bitcoin conference I visited was in Cape Town earlier this year.
I was pretty skeptical going in, but surprised at how much focus was on independence, freedom from gov, lifting people out of poverty into a modest amount of self sovereignty, and all that good stuff.
Fast forward to this weekend. I looked at a few of the talks at the Las Vegas conference. What a fiat-addled, govern-me-harder-daddy kind of shitshow is this?
Have the US conferences always been so bad? Or is this redditfication a more recent phenomenon?
