Check out my previous hikes here. #1291844

I went back to check, and it turns out my last hiking post was posted on March 1st, 2026. #1445643 Three full months later, I finally pushed my lazy self to get back to writing another hiking post. I'm not making any promises to make the hiking posts back to a weekly thing, but I do want to try to post more often. At least not once every three months... Anyways, enough of talking about my laziness, let's get to the point.

This week we head to Lighthouse Park located on the shores of West Vancouver. As suggested by the name of the park, there is a lighthouse at the park. To reach the light house, you have to take a straightforward, gradual downclimb trail from the parking lot. Once you enter the parking lot, you are already in the forest, surrounded by tall Douglas firs, cedars, and other trees. There are several trails in the park that brings through the forest to various different viewpoints, as well as the lighthouse itself. The trails were well kept and relatively easy to hike with minimal elevation changes. We first took the trail heading southwest to Jack Pine Point, where we saw some great views. We then made our way towards the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is a protected heritage building and is not open to the public. We continued along the trails by the shores and saw amazing views of Burrard Inlet and City of Vancouver before taking the trail back to the parking lot.

Trails in the park are clean and well kept. They weave through the forest.

Typical Pacific Northwest forest with tall firs and cedars.

Seeing glimpses of beautiful views behind the trees. I believe this is Bowen Island.

Sign indicating Jack Pine Point ahead.

View at Jack Pine Point featuring western shores of Lighthouse Park and Bowen Island.

Looking southwest. You can see UBC at the very left of the picture.

Reaching the lighthouse. We were above the lighthouse and needed to take a trail down to see the whole building.

We saw a snake while making our way to the lighthouse. Can you spot the snake?

The lighthouse at Lighthouse Park. This lighthouse served to warn ships to not hit Point Atkinson.

Views at the south shore of the park. You can see UBC, City of Vancouver, and parts of Downtown Vancouver in this shot.

More views to the south. This shot features City of Vancouver, Downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park and Lions Gate Bridge. There is also a cargo ship hiding behind the tree.

View of the lighthouse from the south shore of the park.

Great view of the Burrard Inlet looking east from the south shore of the park. Cargo ships usually park on the inlet to wait for loading and unloading at the Port of Vancouver located east, past the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver Harbour.

Taking the trail back to the parking lot.

I'm glad you posted another hike! I enjoy them immensely because they allow me to experience some PNW nostalgia even though I'm down here in the ugly Texas wilds. Happy to read them whenever you find the time!

Thanks! Yea, this hiking post is long overdue. I got busy back in March because of a trip, then April and May was just me being lazy. Will try to get back in the habit of posting them once a week, but no guarantees.

We have a really cool playground nearby with a big replica lighthouse that the kids can climb to the top of and then take a long slide down to the bottom. My daughter loves it and always calls it "the lighthouse park". This reminded me of that.

Great pics.

Thanks.

I guess you don't have real lighthouses in your part of the country, since even though the lakes are huge, they don't really need to install lighthouses to warn for cliffs. Have you guys visited the Maritimes? You can show your daughter the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove.

reply

I have never been to the Maritimes even though my dad is from Nova Scotia. Shame on me. One of these summers.

reply

The Maritimes is beautiful in the summer. Definitely plan for it. We took a road trip driving from Toronto all the way to St. John's, NL back in summer of 2024 and it was really fun.

reply

Sounds amazing. A lot of driving. Are your kids good with being in the car that long?

reply

They're pretty good with sitting in the car for long distances, because we start bringing them to road trips and start training them to sit for long distances ever since they're little. They are also able to sleep in the car and keep one another entertained.

Talking about the trip with you makes me want to talk about these trips in more detail. Maybe I can start a gnilma trip series or something. Yes, dig more holes for myself, haha.
